About the Cultural Crosscurrents Catalogue

The Cultural Crosscurrents Catalogue of Translations in Stuart and Commonwealth Britain (1641-1660) is designed as a continuation of Brenda Hosington's Renaissance Cultural Crossroads Catalogue (1473-1640). It covers the years of the Civil War and the Interregnum, which represent key moments in the shaping of English printing and reading practices.

Data have been retrieved from the English Short-Title Catalogue (ESTC), the Early English Books Online (EEBO) database of digitised texts, and the Folger Library Catalogue.

In addition to the bibliographical details provided by these catalogues, it comprises short biographical notes on translators, as well as a list of the paratexts present in the digitized copies on EEBO.

More details coming -- thanks for your patience as we complete this page.
